Amanda Costello earned her
Bachelor's degree of Nursing, graduating Magnum Cum Laude with
concentration in psychology, from DeSales University in Center Valley, Pennsylvania.
Ms. Costello practiced as a psychiatric registered nurse in both the clinical and
administrative settings for ten years, prior to earning her Master's of Nursing
Science as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner from the University of Cincinnati
in Cincinnati, Ohio. Clinical residency was completed in adult and
child/adolescent psychiatry at Lehigh Valley Health Network where Ms. Costello
worked in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. In addition, she
has experience in community mental health. Ms. Costello is a
nationally board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner through
the American Nurses' Credentialing Center. She is also an active member
of the American Psychiatric Nurses Associate where she advocates for the
advancement of the nurse practitioner through education, research and
legislation.
Ms. Costello is the recipient of the Elmer Cupino, M.D., Psychiatric Nursing Award for
excellence in psychiatric nursing and a recipient of the Pennsylvania
Nurses' Association award for improvement in community health. She
has researched the role of mental health providers in
the school district with emphasis on education of
psychiatric illnesses and reduction of school violence. She
has worked with families providing education on domestic violence,
coping skills, self-esteem and holistic care. Ms. Costello has also
presented to colleagues nursing guidelines for treatment, planning
and documentation focusing on risk management and quality assurance; in
addition, to presentations on transformational leadership in the healthcare
setting.
